
Major charities, government groups, and pharmaceutical companies are coming together in a $758 million group effort to fight 10 deadly tropical diseases in poor countries throughout the world. As one the largest group efforts in fighting tropical disease in history, the project hopes to meet the goal of the World Health Organization to control these diseases by 2020. The effort seeks to discover new treatment options and improve disease eduction, treatment, delivery practices. Drugmakers are donating billions of their existing medicines and searching for new medicines to help control the diseases. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are the lead donors, contributing $363 million.
